23 Workers, Three Trippers Stranded in Mahakali River

Kanchanpur, June 17: As many as 23 workers and three trippers have been stranded in the middle of the Mahakali River here since last night.
They had gone there to excavate sand and pebbles from the river. With rise of water level in the river, the workers and vehicle are stranded in the middle of the river, said DSP Brikha Bahadur Rawal, at the District Police Office.
Though the police had sent a rescue team there last night, they could not rescue them due to the rising water level.
Police and locals have been able to rescue only three workers with the help of plastic tubes while the rest are stranded there, it is learnt.
Preparation to carry out the rescue by helicopter has also been hampered due to bad weather. A helicopter had been called from Dipayal for the rescue but it could not be brought due to bad weather, the District Administration Office, Kanchanpur stated. RSS
