Nepalgunj, June 30: All school going age children in Sitapur VDC in Banke district are going to school.
According to a report made public recently, Sitapur VDC has been second VDC to teach all school-age children.
Earlier to this, Bageshwori VDC had been declared first to send all the school-age children to school for free and compulsory basic education.
Sitapur is declared the second VDC to send school age children for the basic education after 19 students from different localities were admitted to the school.
A campaign was launched here to declare 14 VDCs of the district providing free basic education in the district.
A report prepared by the District Education Office, Banke, shows that as many as 138,000 children have been studying in schools while 15,000 children still have not been going to school.
Meanwhile, the District Development Committee has endorsed a five-year strategic plan for child rights and development.
The plan formulated in coordination with District Child Welfare Committee was supported by Plan Nepal, Save the Children, CWIN Nepal and others. The plan will be implemented in all the 46 VDCs and Nepalgunj Municipality gradually.
The strategic plan has the target of addressing the issues of early marriage, child labour, child trafficking, education, health, and encouraging child-friendly environment in family, community, and society through the integrated plan. RSS
