Kanchanpur, June 19: Nepal-India border pillar no 8 at the Mahakali River bank is in a condition of being swept away.

The border pillar based at Chaukisota, south of Bhujela in Bhimdutta Municipality faced the risk of being swept away as the Mahakali River continuously eroded the area, said Binod Sharma, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

He said, "When it was reported in a district level meeting, it was just pushed aside saying it can be searched through GPRS technology." "There will be problem for both Nepal and India once the pillar is swept away," he added.

Locals of Bhujela area demanded that a necessary step should be taken for the protection of the pillar for Indian side may give various tortures like at other border areas by erecting duplicate pillars. RSS
