China food aid for Mustang

Mustang, June 24: The Chinese government has provided daily consumables worth approximately five million rupees to the people of Mustang district.

The food aid is a part of the Chinese government policy of extending cooperation to the mountainous districts of Nepal sharing borders with it.

The consignment of food aid was brought to local Lomathang and handed over to the district authorities by Chinese officials as per the agreement signed between the Ministry of Local Development and the Government of the People's Republic of China.

The Chinese food cooperation to the mountainous districts of Nepal started in 2009 and will continue until 2013.

The food aid was brought in 24 trucks. Assistant Chief of the Zhongwasen County of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China handed over the food grain, sugar, salt and tea to the Secretary of the Chhoser VDC  Thakur Prasad Adhikari and Secretary of Chhondup VDC Prem Prasad Poudel at a function on Sunday.

As per the agreement, China provides food aid worth three million rupees each year to the district. The food aid provided on Sunday includes the commitments for 2012 and 2013, it is stated. RSS
