Chitwan sees improving literacy status

Chitwan, June 11: Chitwan district has seen improving status of literacy against lower literacy rate at national level.
            The status was revealed at a review and interaction programme under the Literate Nepal Campaign organized by Non-formal Education Centre, Sanothimi and District Education Office, Chitwan in Narayangarh on Monday.
            The literacy rate has increased to 83 per cent in Chitwan up to fiscal year 2068-69 BS. This includes 87 per cent towards male and 79 per cent towards female.
            The data has included Chitwan district people with age range of 15-60 years.
            The average literacy rate at national level is 65.9 including 75.1 per cent towards male and 57.4 towards female.

            Chitwan has a total population of 579,984 of which 60,365 are still illiterate. RSS
