Rolpa, June 23: A daylong conference of pregnant women organized to reduce maternal-child mortality in Rukum concluded here on Saturday.
Some 65 pregnant women from Jungkot, Kotgaun, Korchawang, Bhawang and Whama took part in the event organized by Department of Information and Communications with support from District Public Health Office.
On the occasion, a commitment paper and declaration was prepared regarding basic services and treatment pregnant women are entitled to receive during this stage.
The conference also discussed about the promotion of health services including routine health-check-up of pregnant women.
They have been facing trouble in absence of maternity centre at health facilities in the district, said complained participating pregnant women.
The event, first of its kind in the district, is expected to increase awareness level of pregnant women about the cautionary measures to be adopted during pregnancy period and reduce child mortality rate. RSS
