Solukhumbu, June 23: An elderly woman, Kanchhi Sherpa, 65, of Beni VDC in the district died on the spot after falling from a cliff last night.
She was returning home with her husband Lhakpa Sherpa from nearby monastery after taking Ghewa, it is learnt.
The dead body has been taken to the District Hospital Phaplu for postmortem, said the police.
Meanwhile, an employee at Nepal Drinking Water Corporation, Kalaiya died while another sustained serious injury falling from a tree while picking mangoes in Kalaiya.
Employee duo, Shanker Raj Adhikari and Ganesh Kafle, had fallen off the tree after the mango tree branch broke down. They were picking mangoes from the tree on the premises of the drinking water office.
Adhikari, 46, died on the way to Birgunj hospital from Kalaiya hospital for further treatment while Kafle is undergoing treatment at Birgunj hospital.
Adhikari is said to be a permanent resident of Nuwakot district. RSS
