Banepa, June 12: Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, has said that now the Ministry is in dilemma.
Shrestha said that they have faced difficulties to carry out works in some of places due to lack of representatives in local bodies.
Inaugurating a multi-purpose building of Ugratara Janagal VDC here today, Shrestha said there was a compulsion to run the local bodies by employees.
Stressing on the need of holding election to the local bodies together with election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) or soon after it for the promotion of democracy, he said that the government has allocated budget for model VDCs but has not effectively implemented.
On the occasion, Local Development officer, Govinda Bahadur Karki, former District Development Committee President, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, Chief of the Public Health Office, Kavre, Dr. Arjun Sapkota, among others, urged the government to give priority to development works.
Those persons and organisations, who had donated large sums for the construction of the building, were also honoured. The building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.25 million. RSS
