Khalanga (Baitadi), June 18: Five members of a family died in a landslide that took place at Siddeswor-9 of Baitadi last night.
The landslide triggered by the incessant rain had swept away the entire family members of Ram Singh Eir of Siddeswor-9.
The deceased are Sita Eir, 26, her one-year-old son and three-year-old daughter and Kalabati Eir, 34 and her 12-year-old son Parameswor, the police confirmed.
The police teams deputed from local Khodpe Police Post and Area Police Office, Patan have continued rescue operation in the site, said acting Chief of District Police Office Manoj Shahi.
He informed that the rescue teams had recovered four dead bodies.
Out of seven members of Eir family, Karan and his father Ram Singh have been residing in Khodpe bazaar for business purpose. They managed to escape the tragic incident since both of them were not at the home when the incident took place.

The landslide had buried 10 goats, a he-buffalo and two cows, said the police source.
Meanwhile, in Kalikot district, continuous rainfall since Sunday has caused damage and affected normal life.
Likewise Jitegada and Lalighat Bazaar are reeling under high risk of flood and inundation. Even a bridge, shops and buildings are waterlogged in the area.
Police have been mobilized in the area for rescue operation when required, said CDO Jagat Bahadur Basnet.
In yet another incident, the rainfall has brought damages to 11 houses at Semne in Humla district headquarter Simikot. Now the area is waterlogged. RSS
