Kathmandu, June 17: A meeting of the High-Level Political Committee (HLPC) held today expressed commitment to holding election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) and urged all the dissenting parties to participate in the CA election by holding talks and coming to consensus.
The meeting expressed worries over President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav falling sick and wished for his speedy recovery.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)- Democratic and coordinator of the Committee, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar at New Baneshwor urged political parties including CPN-Maoist not to trouble people and not to organise strikes, bandas, which make negative impact in the election.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Vice-President of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, said that CA election should be held at any cost as there was no alternative to election to give an outlet to the country and talks would be held with the dissenting parties for the same.
Stating that issues of the dissenting parties would be resolved through talks and consensus, Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Narayankaji Shrestha, mentioned that the meeting also called the dissenting parties to come to talks.
Similarly, General Secretary of the MJF-Democratic, Jitendra Dev, said that issues of the dissenting parties would be resolved by holding talks seriously with political parties and the leaders would put forth the conclusion of talks in the meeting by June 28.
Senior leader of NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba, said that he familiarized about his India visit in the meeting.
Present in the meeting were UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC President Sushil Koirala, CPN (UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, among other leaders. RSS
