Kathmandu, June 19: The Government of India has provided a grant assistance of Rs. 41.49 million for the construction of a three-storied school building of the Shree Higher Secondary School at Barkalpur VDC-2 in Kapilvastu District.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, the District Development Committee (DDC), Kapilvastu and the Shree Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday, the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, stated in a press release.
The new building to be constructed with the Indian grant assistance will help in creation of better facilities for over 1,000 students, 50 per cent of whom are girls, it is stated. The project would be implemented by the DDC Kapilvastu
In addition to this project, work is ongoing on three other projects at a cost of Rs. 95.60 million in the district. India has also provided four ambulances and one school bus in the district, the press release states.
The grant assistance is provided under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme which has an outlay of over Rs. 65 billion.More than 450 large and small development projects have been completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of the country under the Programme. RSS
