NEW DELHI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is to visit the U.S. in September, and will hold a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, local media reported Tuesday.

Singh's visit will follow U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden's tour to the Indian capital next month, which was announced by visiting American Secretary of State John Kerry Monday.

Last month, President Obama sent an invite to Singh through Deputy Secretary of State William Burns to visit Washington, reported the Times of India English-language newspaper, quoting government sources.

Kerry arrived in India on a three-day tour to co-chair with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid the fourth edition of the India-U.S. Strategic Dialogue.
