Irregularities Delay Water Project in Salyan

Salyan, June 25: The Darimjyula Drinking Water Project based at Korbangh Jhimpe VDC has been in limbo for the past two years due to financial irregularities on part of consumers committee.

The project remained uncertain due to financial embezzlement by Dilli Bahdur KC, president at the consumer committee, said committee former secretary Ganesh Budhathoki.

Cement and water supply pipeline worth Rs. 300,000 went unused in lack of proper storing, complained locals.

As many as 200 families have been adversely affected due to delay in the completion of drinking water project, said Uttar Kumar KC, a local.

Likewise, the District Development Office had provided Rs. 3.37 million and local had raised fund of Rs. 8 million for the construction of the project.
Owing to the lack of proper monitoring action, only 75 per cent of the construction works has been done.
An action will be taken against the office-bearer involved in embezzling project construction fund and the budget will not be provided to compensate the damaged materials, said Suresh Adhikari, Social Development Officer at the District Development Office. RSS
