Bhadrapur, June 24: The Food Technology and Quality Control Division has launched the 'Mechi-Mahakali wholesome food campaign' from Kakadbhitta, the eastern gateway to Nepal, here on Sunday.
The campaign is aimed at maintaining food hygiene in hotels, restaurants and eateries at places along the highway.
Inaugurating the campaign, Chief District Officer of Jhapa District, Ekmani Nepal, stressed the need of informing the hotel entrepreneurs for using hygienic food and vegetables and carrying out strict monitoring of the food sold by them. He also pointed out to the need of establishing food testing laboratories in every development region of the country.
Other speakers at the campaign opening expressed dismay over the poor quality of food available at the hotels and restaurants at places along the highways and underlined strict monitoring for maintain the food quality.
They expressed the hope that the campaign would contribute towards raising public awareness on the food hygiene among the stakeholders and the consumers alike, emphasizing the need of expanding the campaign. RSS
