Jajarkot, June 24: A majority of women in Jajarkot district are found giving birth in unsafe conditions for lack of safe birhing centres.
The data provided by the District Health Office, Jajarkot, shows that only 27 per cent of pregnant women in the district come to the district hospital for delivery. It is stated that only 625 out of the 4,980 women who gave birth in the district this year availed of safe child delivery services under the supervision of trained health workers.
Although the district has 15 birthing centres, most of these centres lack the facility due to shortage of manpower, equipment and medicines. Fourteen pregnant women in the district died last year due to complications related to delivery for lack of safe delivery facilities, it is stated. RSS
