Kathmandu, July 1: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said that there was no any doubt on the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) as election was the only outlet to the political crisis of the country and Nepali people were in favour of it.

Koirala, who is in United States of America in course of treatment, expressed the belief that finally the dissenting parties would participate in the election as there was no alternative to the election.

Koirala expressed the belief at a programme organised by the Nepal -America Liaison Committee, associated with NC, at Jackson, New York.

Stating that talks are underway with the leaders of the dissenting parties including the CPN-Maoist and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal for their participation in the election, he clarified that the NC is not against federalism but not in favour of ethnic-based federalism.

On different note, Koirala said that the party would give election ticket to those candidates, who work in the district and are recommended by the constituency.

On the occasion, different people including member of the Organizational Department, Mridula Koirala, Mahasamiti Member Bed Prasad Kharel, former president of the Liaison Committee, Khagendra GC and New York Chapter Chairperson Jenisha Gurung urged Koirala to provide tickets in the election to those who are active in the district itself, NC active member Ananta Subedi told RSS.

Subedi said that a decision has been made that NC active members, who are in America, would provide 50 US dollars and other general members as per their wish for relief to the flood victims of Nepal.

Koirala, who is suffering from tongue cancer for the past few years, would undergo his regular medical check-up at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, it is learnt. RSS
