Open Defecation Free Campaign expedited in Dang

Tulsipur (Dang), June 11: The Open Defecation Free Campaign, launched with the objective of declaring the district as open defecation free district by 2014, has now been expedited. 

In this connection, out of 39 VDCs in the district, 20 VDCs have already been declared as open defecation free VDCs.

According to Tilak Neupane, Engineer at the Office of the Drinking Water Division, Dang, the campaign has been expedited in the remaining VDCs and it has reached the final phase.

Neupane said that toilets have been constructed at 80 per cent houses so far in the district. 

However, out of the two municipalities in the district, only two Wards each at Tulsipur Municipality and Ghorahi Municipality have been declared as open defecation free wards.

Different public awareness programmes have been launched in the other VDCs to make the campaign a success even after the campaign has not able to make a headway in the remaining wards. RSS
