The District Child Welfare Committee and different organizations working for child rights had declared Banke a child labourer free district three years back on 20th November 2007.

According to the statistics, more than five per cent children under nine years, 60 per cent between 10-14 and 40 per cent below the age 14-17 are still serving as child labourer in the district.

Likewise, more than 50 children are still working as kamlari (bonded labourer) in different houses in the district.

It is noted that the Government of Nepal had already declared the ending of Kamlari practice across the country. RSS
