Gaur,
June 10: All the government schools in Rautahat have been closed for the next
five days owing to a strike announced by the teachers appointed under the Per
Child Fund (PCF).
The PCF teachers here who were on
warpath for a week, putting forth a charter of eight-point demands have
announced the closure of schools beginning from today.
Around 300,000 children are forced
to stay home due to the closure of schools.
Remuneration as per other teachers, removal of
age-limit for PCF teachers in the Teachers' Service Commission and management
of insurance of PCF teachers are among other demands put forth by the PCF
Teachers Struggle Committee.
PCF teachers across the country have
been staging a sit-in protest in front of the respective district education
offices since May 28 with a view to piling pressure on the government to
address their voices.
Issuing a press statement today,
Committee Central Senior Vice President Hriday Narayan Yadav said they decided
to close the district-based government schools for five days as their voices
for 'justice' fell on deaf ears.
District
Education Officer Laxmiram Bhattarai has urged the agitating teachers not to
close the academic institutions and deprive the students of their right to
education through a press statement. However, the Committee has lambasted the
DEO appeal. RSS
