Taplejung, June 24: Police on Sunday seized timber loaded in two tractors from local Nangkholyang area and handed the illegal logs over to the District Forest Office.
A team of the Armed Police Force under the command of Inspector Tekendra Thapa confiscated 52.32 cubic feet of timber loaded in two tractor trailers from the area, police said. The police acted on a tip-off that illegal timber was being smuggled out of the forest in the area.
A search is on for the timber smugglers, it is learnt. Locals say timber smuggling has increased in the district of late. RSS
