Dailekh, June 18: Seven members of a
family died after a landslide following the incessant rainfall buried their
house at Kumaldanda of Malika VDC, Dailekh district.
Mohan
Kumal, his wife Tulsa Kumal, their sons, Ganesh Chunara, Khagendra Chunara,
Nagendra Chunara, and daughters, Krishna Chunara and Gita Chunara died in the
landslide occurred last night, according to District Police Office, Dailekh.
The whole village has been stunned following the incident.
Kin of the Kumal family said,
"Landslide fell upon the house and the house collapsed burying the Kumal
family while they were sleeping." The villagers said they were stunned
seeing the house buried early morning today.
A police team sent from the Area
Police Office, Dullu and Tallo Dhungeshwor has been carrying out the rescue
operation. Bodies of two of the victims were pulled out of the rubble until the
time of filing this news.
Similarly, as many as 25 houses
belonging to the Badi community were inundated due to the blockade of the
Lohorekhola (a stream) in Khadkawada VDC and Naule Katuwal VDC, stated police.
Two houses in the area were swept away by the flood, said locals.
It is learnt that the villagers are
urged to move to safer place to avoid any further disaster as it continues to
