Lalitpur, June 24: A model town domestic biogas plant has been installed at the premises of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre to produce bio-gas from household garbage.
The gas produced by the one-cubic meter capacity plant will be used for two hours daily in the canteen.
Inaugurating the plant, Executive Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Govindraj Pokhrel said the programme was started by targeting the residents of town areas to lessen the dependency on LP gas and to manage the bio-garbage of the town areas.
Centre's Deputy Director Sameer Thapa said Rs. 10,000 was arranged as grant by the government out of the amount of Rs. 25,000 needed for installing the domestic bio-gas plant. The center has a target to install 500 such plants in this fiscal year. RSS
