Hetaunda, June 13: Twenty-nine percent women in 30 VDCs of Makawanpur district suffer from disability of one kind or the other, according to a study carried out by an organization called the Maternity and Child Research Activities Institute.
The study related to the reproductive health status of women with disabilities in these VDCs. It was conducted in association with the Leonard Chesire Disability University of U.K. and the Institute of Global Health, College of London.
As part of the study, quantitative research was carried out among 13,687 people and qualitative on 40 people. It was found that 29 per cent of this population suffered disability of one kind or the other.
At a dissemination programme held here on Wednesday, 30 per cent women did not breast feed their child.
Although the behaviour of bringing and child care of women with disabilities was at a par with those without, the disabled women were found to bathe the child before 24 hours of the birth of the child. RSS
