Rolpa, July 3: Travel from the western area to the neighbouring districts Dang and Rukum has been hampered as the bridge over the Madikhola River there has been washed away and it has not been repaired or reconstructed since the last three years.

People were crossing the river using a temporary wooden bridge there which has been swept away by the swollen river following the recent torrential rains.

The locals have been calling for building a concrete bridge over the river but the district authorities are not heeding, complained a local.

Although the District Development Committee (DDC), Rukum has been spending as much as 700 thousand rupees annually on the construction of temporary wooden bridge over the river, it is not taking initiatives for building a concrete bridge, said the disgruntled local. RSS
