Conflict Victim Treatment Fund set up

Baglung, July 9: The Conflict Victims Treatment Fund has been set up aiming at providing support to the treatment of people injured and mutilated in the district during the conflict era.

Coordinated by Local Development Officer (LDO) of Baglung district, Punya Bikram Poudel, the fund operation committee has the representations from different stakeholders of the district.

The fund was set up on the joint initiative of District Development Office and Satkarma Nepal. The fund that was instituted with Rs 16,000 in the beginning has the sole objective of providing support to conflict survivors, said Coordinator Poudel.

Among members in the management committee are representatives from District Development Office, Local Peace Committee, Zonal Hospital, District Police Office, Nepal Red Cross Society, Federation of Nepali Journalists, chief of War Victims Rights Committee and Women Rights Activists.

Likewise, Satkarma Nepal will serve its role as the member-secretary of the committee. Satkarma Nepal – a local NGO – has been providing legal and medicinal support to conflict victims in the district.

The committee has urged the public to cooperate with the move, said Satkarma Nepal President Sita Ram Thapa. RSS
