Development journalism training to Gulmi-based journalists

Gulmi, July 2: A three-day development journalism training for journalists in Gulmi district began here Tuesday.

The training is organized by Sancharika Samuha for the capacity building of journalists writing in the development sector.

The main objective of the training is to make journalists capable to write in development sector of the district.

At the inaugural ceremony of the training, Gulmi President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Ghanashyam Gautam, said that development journalism is in the shadow due to conventional journalism.

  Central member of the Nepal Press Union, Janardan Ghimire, expressed sadness over the trend of giving priority to political news rather than development news by national-level media.

Likewise, Gulmi Secretary of FNJ, Bharat Pandey, said that journalists have failed to cover the issues of irregularities and corruption that take place in course of development construction.

Chairperson of Sancharika Samuha Gulmi, Gaganshila Khadka, said that the training is organised with the purpose to encourage journalists to write on positive as well as negative impact of development at the local level.

A total of 15 journalists are participating in the training organised with the support of the District Development Committee. RSS
