Kathmandu, July 9: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has honoured mountaineer and journalist Mingma Sherpa amidst a programme here today.
Sherpa is a television crew at Avenues Television. Sherpa successfully scaled the world's highest mountain Sagarmatha or Everest carrying the flag bearing the symbol of the FNJ on May 19. It is his eighth successful climb to the world's highest peak.
Born in Thamu of Namche VDC, Solukhumbu district, Sherpa, climbed the highest peak of the world for the second time as a journalist.Participants of the programme stressed that the nation should evaluate the contribution of such people who heighten the prestige of the country carrying out such daring trip.
During the programme, FNJ President Shiva Gaunle appreciated Journalist Sherpa and said that he not only popularized FNJ across the world but also raised national pride.
Speaking to the RSS, mountaineer and journalist Sherpa said he was proud of his achievement and added that the nation would have more records if the State provides proper appreciation and recognition to the record holders. RSS
