Rolpa, July 3: Explosive substance packed in a sack has been found inside a cave at Thurpalek, Gairigaon VDC Ward No. 6, in west Rolpa.
The explosives were found hidden inside the Dhuri Odar cave located in a forested area on Tuesday evening, Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Armed Police Force (APF), Laxman Panthi, said. The APF has a security post at Gairigaon for the security of the camp of the former Maoist combatants at Tila.
The explosives and ammunition found inside the cave include 70 socket bombs, gunpowder used in muzzle loaders, two sacks full of soda used for making gunpowder and two bundles of pipes used to ignite the detonators, the District Police Office, Rolpa stated.
It is not known who hid the explosives and the motive for doing that. A bomb disposal team is said to be preparing to dispose of the explosives.
Police suspect that the explosives might have been hidden during the conflict period. RSS
