Solukhumbu, July 3: The Greater Khumbu Cleaning Campaign, 2013 kicked off here on Tuesday.
The objective of the campaign is to raise public awareness on the need of keeping the environment clean and pollution-free. The theme of the campaign is 'Our Garbage, Our Responsibility: Clean Environment, Our Existence'.
The weeklong campaign is conducted jointly by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, Namche and the Protect Sagarmatha Campaign of Eco Himal Nepal.
Some 80 volunteers including students, teachers and office-bearers of the Border Administration Office, Eco Himal, the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee and the Eco Club Network Committee are participating in the cleaning campaign.
The Greater Khumbu Cleaning Campaign, 2013 team will collect trash from the Island Peak, the Mt Everest Base Camp, Imja Pokhari and Namche Bazaar areas, dispose of the trash and carry out public awareness programmes. RSS
