Dadeldhura, July 7: Dozens of villages in inner Terai in Dadeldhura district are at high risk of flooding this year like in the previous years.
Shirsha, Aalital, and Jogbuda VDCs are at high risk of floods. The continuous erosion by Mahakali and Ranguna Rivers has caused damages in the area with incessant rainfall.
Dozens of villagers are displaced due to the effect of the floods every year. Sarkuda, Sisamjala, Kuda, Karali, Bhurkunda, Tatopani, and Chandani villages of Jogbuda VDC and Katal, Parigaun and Basgaira of Shirsha VDC and Godam, Ghumati and Syalchaudi villages of Aalital VDC are in high risk.
With the erosion of fertile lands here, the locals are facing shortage of foods in the areas for the past few years. The area is a densely populated area in the district where fifty per cent people in the district are living.
