Kailali, Attariya, July 7: The touristically important Jakhor Lake at Devariya of Dhangadhi Municipality -7 is being buried for lack of conservation.

The only lake within the municipality is being buried for lack of conservation and promotion.

The lake is second most important in view of wetland with full of bio-diversity after Ghodaghodi Lake.

Economic benefit could be taken if it was developed touristically.

The lake rich with bio-diversity point of view occupies 15 hectares out of the 100 hectares of the lake area.

It is seven kms from Dhangadhi, and internal and foreign tourists enjoy the beauty of the lake in boats. The lake full of natural beauty is a good destination for lovers, said a local Topendra Shah.

Although the Dhangadhi Municipality has kept it in the five year master plan, it has not given any attention on developing it.

As no one has taken initiative for its conservation, locals worry that it could lose its natural beauty very soon. RSS
