Kawasoti, July 10: As many as 14 families have been displaced as flood in the local Kerunge stream inundated Kawasoti area. The inundation is caused as the embankment at Koilapani for flood control was damaged.
The displaced families are taking shelter at their neighbours' homes. The flood has also washed away some two bighas arable land. Locals say that the inundation is because the government failed to pay adequate attention for repairing the levees constructed along the 19-kilometres length of the stream.
Although locals and Nepal Police personnel are working to check the overflowing stream from gushing towards the settlement, they are meeting with little success. RSS
