Gaur, Rautahat, July 7: The Adult Literacy Programme run under the 'Literate Nepal Campaign' has been unsuccessful in 12 VDCs of Rautahat district this year.
The District Education Office has said it is unaware in which VDCs the amount was spent as it was run only in paper.
Rs. 1,950,000 for 975 volunteers and Rs. 232,500 for 93 inspectors was sanctioned as salaries for the programmes in 12 VDCs including Pipra Pokhariya, Tulasi Rajpur, Fatuwa, and Maheshpur.
Similarly, a total of Rs. five million was spent including Rs. 1,332,000 sanctioned for text books, and Rs. 972,000 for stationary and Rs. 36,000 for inspectors' allowance.
However, District Education Officer (DEO) Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai claimed the programmes were run in VDCs selected after investigating on the petitions.
Education mafia and employees have made the investment go on waste in the name of making people literate, said Chairman of the Civil Society Jagarnath Prasad Keshari. RSS
