New species of bird traved in Rasuwa


Rasuwa, July 9: A new species of bird was traced at the Langtang National Park in Rasuwa district.

The bird is like a sparrow and weights of around 200 grams, and it was found at Ramche area of mid-Rasuwa, according to ornithologist and Assistant Conservation Officer, Ram Dev Chaudhary.

According to information shared at a press conference here Monday, the bird belongs to a new species in Nepal. A team of ornithologists had been closely studying and observing the bird since some time back.

Meanwhile, the bird counting in the park has concluded along with a review of the numbers of birds' census taken in 2001.

According to the census taken for the first time in 2001, there were around 345 species of birds but it was found to decrease to 315 this time, said Chaudhary.

Likewise, a study has show that there are around 1,800 wild boars in Langtang and Dhunche area. RSS
