Chitwan, July 11: Poaching incidents have decreased at the Chitwan National Park after the locals took initiation to control such activities in the district.

With this initiation, the forest area has also increased. The forests have been handed over to the local communities for their preservation.

Hari Shrestha, president at the District Forestry Coordination Committee, during the inspection of a community forest on Wednesday said that the forests have been handed over to the local users' committees to protect and control the poaching activities.

The only effort of Nepal Government is not enough to control poaching and protect the forest therefore, so, it is handed over to the locals and it has been found progressive, Shrestha added. RSS
