Gorkha, July 4: Renovation of the Gorkha Museum (upper Durbar) is being carried out after 174 years. The museum was built in 1896 B.S during the reign of then King Rajendra Bikram Shah.
Museum Chief Karuna Rai said that the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation has provided Rs. four million for the renovation of the museum.
Ninety thousand tiles, necessary for the renovation of the roof, have been brought from Kathmandu, she added.
Officer of the Upper Durbar Nanibabu Pokhrel said that renovation of Kalika temple area would be carried out along with the Gorkha Museum.
The renovation is expected to be completed by July 15. RSS
