Gaur (Rautahat), July 24: The Shreeram Sugar Mill at Garuda in Rautahat district is closed since two weeks.
The workers and employees shut the sugar mill calling for fulfillment of their various demands.
With the closure of the mill, the payment to the sugarcane farmers from Bara, Parsa and Rautahat has also been affected.
The mill is yet to pay approximately Rs. 470 million to the farmers for the sugarcane it purchased from them. It is said the mill has been distributing as much as Rs. 5 million daily to farmers as payment.
The mills management has stated that it is unable to make the payment to farmers as the entire operation of the mill has come to a standstill due to the protests by the labour unions. RSS
