Kathmandu, July 3: Popular singer Rajesh Payal Rai has provided financial support to two social organizations for the cause of humanitarian service.
Rai handed over 25 thousand rupees each to Help Nepal and Rakshya Nepal, the two social organizations based in Kathmandu amidst a function here on Tuesday. Menuka Thapa, a representative of Rakshya Nepal, and Bidur Giri, president of Nepal Film Journalists Association, received the cash on behalf Rakshya Nepal and Help Nepal respectively.
The aid was given out from the amount collected from the performances the singer gave out at different concerts in the country and abroad, and the amount handed over to him by social worker Jeevan Raj Bhandari who currently is living and working in Japan.
Speaking in the programme, Rai announced his plan of providing such support to the underprivileged people and to social and education sectors through the Rajesh Payal Rai Foundation in future.
He said that a revolving fund of two hundred thousand rupees has been set up at the initiation of Ishwar Gurung and Prakash Ranamagar, the members of the Namaste Band based who are now based in Japan.
Rai added that the Arun Thapa Youth Music Award carrying a purse of 50 thousand rupees would be instituted and provided to a singer or a musician every year. RSS
