KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, July 5 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bomber blew himself up in Spin Boldak district in southern Afghan province of Kandahar on Friday, killing himself along with two others and injuring 12 more, a local official said.
"A terrorist wearing explosive device blew himself up in Spin Boldak district at around 09:30 a.m. local time leaving two people dead and injuring around 12 others," spokesman for the provincial administration Jawed Faisal told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, the police chief of Kandahar province Abdul Razeq confirmed the incident, saying according to preliminary investigation, three people including the attacker, one civilian and one personnel of Border Police Force were killed in the deadly attack and eight others including six civilians sustained injuries.
However, an official said on condition of anonymity that the commander of Border Police Force in Spin Boldak district, Akhtar Mohammad, was among those killed in the attack.He blamed Taliban militants for the attack, but the outfit has yet to make comment.
