twenty-one districts to compete in karate tournament

Kathmandu, July 7: Competitors from 21 districts across the country are taking part in the first national Nihon Shotokan Karate tournament to be held in the capital from coming February 18 to 20.

The tournament is organized by the Nepal Nihon Shotokan Karate-do Association.

Men between 12 to 15 years of age will compete in 15-18, 18-20, 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-40 and open weight category, according to the Association Secretary Sanjaya Lama.

Likewise, women of the same age group will compete in 15-18, 18-20, 20-25 and open weight category.

Team and individual kata will also be a category of competition in the tournament.

Considering the tournament, a national referee and technical training began here today.

The five-day training is being facilitated by Technical Director of Indian Nihon Shotokan Kamal Negi. The workshop is taking place at the Tulasi Garden Restaurant in Bhagwanpaun, Swoyambhu. RSS
