WOMEN JOIN HANDS FOR PRESERVATION OF FOREST IN KANCHANPUR

Belauri (Kanchanpur), July 30: Women of southern belt of Kanchanpur district have joined hands for preservation of local forests.

The women of local Ajayapal Community Forest Sub-committee are united to preserve the forest after problems of poaching of wild animals and smuggling of timbers, firewood and grass rose, said Bir Bahadur Bista, president of the committee.  They have formed a 11-member committee under the convenorship of Shanti Bhandari.

'The preservation task is tough but has been eased after forming committee to work collectively', said Bhandari.

They are doing mobile patrolling of the forest from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm everyday at different points in the jungle, which has stopped smuggling of timber, firewood and grass, she added. RSS
