Jumla, Aug. 6: Locals of seven VDCs of Mugu district including Photu, Narthupu, Jimi, Kalai and Bhie are facing acute shortage of iodized salt.
Annually only 200 kgs of iodized salt has been supplied to this area on government subsidy and, with this, each family hardly gets two packets, said Dalpati Lohar.
With the short supply of salt, the locals have been compelled to take meal without salt, he said, complaining nothing could be expected from such government which could not even provide salt to its people.
The people here are also compelled to go to Tibet and Terai to bring salt, said Dhan Ram Lohar, a local.
Around 400 quintals of salt will be supplied to these VDCs from this current fiscal year 2070/071 considering acute shortage of essential goods in the belt, said Upendra Thakur Chief of Salt Trading Corporation Depot, Mugu. RSS
