Khotang, Aug. 6: The production of cardamom this year is likely to go down in Khotang this year with growing decay of its plants and flowers.
The heavy rainfall that triggered huge fall of flowers is affecting the cardamom yields. The cardamom farming, which used to be affected much with long spell of drought in previous years, is now negatively impacted with heavy rainfall, said Deep Bahadur Rai, a farmer of Yamkha-1, Barlang.
The flower of cardamom – aromatic seeds used as herbal products – blossoms in the months of July and August. With incessant rain this year, the produce of the special item is dropping by two-fold, said Bhim Rai, a farmer of Temma-8. RSS
