Syangja, Aug. 6: Police have arrested at least five persons here on charge of butchering an ox for meat.
Among the arrestees are Hasta Bahadur Chhetri, Hasta Bahadur Chhetri, Krishna Bahadur Chhetri, Rajendra Bahadur Chhetri's son Krishna Bahadur Chhetri Resham Poudel and Bed Prasad Poudel of the same VDC, ward no 9, said Inspector at the District Police Office, Syangja, Hari Bahadur Baruwal.
Butchering cow and ox is deemed to be a crime in Nepal.
It is learnt that they had butchered the ox on the bank of the Andhaandhi rivulet in ward no. 9. It is alleged that the group had thieved the domestic animal from the shed of Padma Kumari Poudel of Chilaunebas VDC-8.
